dropshadow

Every few days I get bored and wander around the web looking for cool background images. Yesterday's searching brought me to Ronn Lund's site, which "guest starred" a couple images by Chas. I downloaded a couple of those images, and went on my way.

Today it struck me that there had been a link to Chas' full site, so I went there and found that it contains many more very well done backgrounds. Very cool.

cell phones

I'm going to be getting a new cell phone soon to replace my Nextel (over-pricing and bad call quality, yippee!), so I've been looking around a bit.

Right now I'm leaning towards getting a phone from VoiceStream once they get their national plan here in MI (600 minutes/month for $59.95). When I get that, I simply must have an Ericsson T28 World. 4x2x0.6 inches... Wow. I'd get the little infrared modem, too. — Continue Reading...

more on my mp3 player

I just looked at my mp3 player stuff and realized it's been almost exactly a year since I last worked on it. Check out my description of it's operation from July 10, 1999.

It's really scary that the whole setup works. Shared memory, signals... Ugh... I really should rewrite it to use true IPC and sockets.

Anyway, I've posted the current (last year's) incarnation at eScripting for your perusal.

misc news

I'm back, so the cameras are now back online. I replaced the camera on pizzabox, but it's still an IndyCam, so the image still sucks.

Also, xmms 1.2.1 isn't working for me, so I think I'm going to take that as a sign to resume work on the old mp3 player I was writing. I may even try my hand at a Perl/GTK GUI. The nice side-benefit of this is that I'll be able to log mp3 playing to SQL again, so look for my mp3 logs to return.
