more wireless

As if yesterday's wireless accomplishments weren't enough, I've now one-up'ed them. This post is coming to you via Proxyweb on my PalmIII, online via an infrared connection to the L7089. Muah haha. Now to get ssh and play more...

it's a wireless world

I'm writing this post logged on to the net via the wireless modem in my Motorola Timeport L7089. It's a little sluggish (9600bps), but it's very cool to have.

Since I got back from down under both SMS and data calls have started working for me, causing me to decide to stay with VoiceStream. I'm experimenting with using uReach as my access means for Muskegon people. I get my own toll free 877 number, and I get email to my phone when someone leaves a message. It seems to work great, and it's really cheap (free if you only use the included 30 minutes/month).

sourceforge

I was downloading something from sourceforge today (MySQL RPMS), and noticed that the download was going insanely fast. When I say insanely fast I mean like 1200KB/sec. That's like 9.6Mb/sec.

Apparently it's not just my imagination:

--- sourceforge.net ping statistics ---
19 packets transmitted, 19 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 3.4/4.0/5.6 ms

The crazy thing? It's still 7 hops.

we're back... mostly

Things are finally starting to return to normal some. As you can obviously see, the box is back up and serving. My email's working again, too, which makes me a lot happier than I have been. Still some stuff to get back into shape, but things are looking up.

clocks

What is it with me and never being able to have a machine with the clock set right... I actually posted that sourceforge message now.
