a little update

I've got a few minutes to kill before I'm off to my next task, so I figured it would be nice if I posted a bit of a general update on my first week of school. Click to read...

Above all, move-in has been very, very hectic. From coming to an apartment with absolutely nothing in it, we've hd to work our way to a functional living space. Things on that front are going pretty well now, with only cable and internet remaining as missing links.

On the class front (schedule here if you're curious) things are also going well. My two COMM classes both look to be interesting, with the HipHop class looking like it'll be extremely cool. The profressor seems incredibly smart, and turned even just the normal introductions into an interesting class period. My Gender and the Media class should be interesting if there's a lot of discussion. Latin is Latin, and I really don't know much right now, but hopefully as I review things will begin to come back. My Philosophy class was a bit dry for the first session, but I think it'll get more interesting as we get out of the background stage.

Today I stood out on Trousdale for a couple hours trying to sign people up for the waterski club/team. We had a really good turnout for signups, so hopefully a good number of those will progress into members. We had a good number of girls signup, which is always good. Life at the lake is definitely better with girls there, and their presence also makes it a good bit easier to get guys out. We're looking to get out more this year, and we'll be skiing two tournaments this fall, and two in the spring.

Campus Crusade's first meeting of the year is tonight. Turnout is usually highest at the beginning of the year, so it'll be fun to meet a lot of new people and see how many of them keep coming back.

I hung out with my cousin Travis for a while yesterday at In-N-Out. He's taking seminary classes at Biola, so it'll be fun to get to hang out with him this year. He's coming down to USC on Friday and we're going to play some tennis.

Kathy's excited right now because she has a startingoutside hitter job on the Calvin volleyball team. It'll be really cool for her to get a lot of playing time this year. Now as long she can keep beds from falling on her...

That's about all I can think of right now. I'll be posting more often once we have internet in the apartment (tomorrow maybe).
