the progression of Linux

I installed Linux on a computer at school today for the third time. It's interesting to see how installation and ease of use has progressed. On the whole, I'd say things are very much on the way up.
The first install was Redhat 5.2 last year. Ouch. The 3Com 3c950 didn't work at all in Linux. I ended up having to bring in a 3c509 to get it running. X didn't configure out of the box, either. I ended up getting it working through xf86config, but it was a pain.
Redhat 6.0 was this year. It worked like a charm. 20 minute install and everything's working great.
I installed Redhat 6.1 today. It was interesting to see their new graphical install tool. It works great. I love being able to set up users and stuff during install. It should be a winner with Linux newbies.
