Brookgreen Gardens

My sister Jenny and Kathy on a long, straight walkway that leads from Brookgreen Gardens to Atalaya, the Huntingtons' former home in what is now Huntington Beach State Park. While many of the flowers at Brookgreen were past their prime, these were in perfect bloom. Kathy and I pose next to flowers outside the Brookgreen welcome center. A butterfly takes advantage of the flowers at Brookgreen. Kathy at Brookgreen Gardens, which features a zoo, gardens and sculpture on a former rice plantation. Sculpture both new and old is dotted through the landscape at Brookgreen. A warm spring had the Brookgreen flowers already a touch past their prime during our visit in early April. Kathy and I pose near a pool that surrounds one of Brookgreen's sculptures. While many of the flowers at Brookgreen were past their prime, these were in perfect bloom. A bee hovers after visiting one of Brookgreen's flowers. The sun shines on an azalea in bloom near a towering oak tree. Bright blooms surround a sculpture pool inside Brookgreen Gardens. Flowers line a pool that houses sculptures dedicated to the muses.
